COD4 Online: Lag

Holy Hayabusa! I haven't posted anything on here for a while. I have been busy and preoccupied with other things lately, so my game time has become less and less.

I will give this little tidbit though. Call of Duty 4 online is a pain in the butt. Lag man, lag. How many bullets to the chest can one guy take? If it weren't for the Kill-cam, I would never be able to tell the lag was responsible for my misfortunes. It may be the wireless connection that is responsible for the lag as well. All I can say is that I do much better sniping peoples heads off than I do with an assault rifle. I went 18-2-0 one time with my Druganov! 18 kills, 2 assists, and 0 deaths. Not bad eh? Not as good as my friend Silas though, 33-4-0 for him, he's a beast I guess... even with lag.

Half_Life cheats.

Someday, I may be able to get some cool screenshots or even some video clips of me playing half-life. But for now, all I can do is talk about it.

Ok, to potentially get more traffic to this blog I will post the following:

HALF-LIFE CHEATS!! FREE!

First off, these are for the original Half-Life (1997-1998) and it's counterparts Opposing Force and Blue Shift.

Before activating the cheat codes, first right click on your Half-Life icon and select "Make/Create Shortcut"

This step I believe can be skipped but if you want your original game to be cheat free, you want to do this.

Next, right click on your new icon (Half-Life (2)) and select "Properties"

Normally, the section in the space designated "Target" will be highlighted. Click all the way to the right of this section and type in the following: -console -dev

Click "Apply"

Your icon should blink once really fast.

Open your altered Half-Life game.

If there is a new button at the top of the menu that reads "CONSOLE" your first efforts at a simple type of computer "hacking" have been successful.

Begin or load a game and hit "`" (to the left of the 1 button) to activate the console thingy.

Enter in your desired cheats.

type "god" to activate godmode/invincibility then hit your enter key. Once this is done it should read "godmode ON"

My personal favorite cheat code is "Impulse 101" (make sure to capitalize the I). This cheat should make the ammo added sound (a click or a squeak, or both). This cheat is not to be used while on an elevator or a railway car otherwise the game will shut off. In Opposing Force, (and probably in Half-Life) this cheat only works after a "loading" sign appears on the screen during gameplay.

Type in "noclip" to deactivate collision and walls in the game. A "noclipping ON" message should appear. This will allow you to walk through walls or get yourself unstuck after a faulty section load. I wish this code would work in the unaltered game at times.

Finally, the last cheat code I ever use "give item_longjump" will give you the longjump module. If you don't know how to use this, too bad. In Opposing Force, this item will disappear from your arsenal after awhile and you cannot get it back (at least, I can't).

Type in "kill" to kill your player. This works when you want to die fast and restart from the last save point. Pressing f9 will work for some people, but not for me (of course).

These 5 cheats are the only ones I find at all usefull and they are the only ones I ever use. Partly because they are the only ones that don't constantly cause my game to shut off.

Many people also enjoy the "Gruntomatic" or "Impulse 76" but I don't because it doesn't work on my system.

For more Half-Life cheats, go to Google.com and look for them yourself. Good luck being a cheater!

Getting Started, Game List

So, I had a dream last night that I had a blog dedicated to my thoughts on various outdated games that I play and it got a remarkable amount of feedback from readers. I don't know if that will happen in reality, but nevertheless, I will give it a shot.

Some outdated games that I have played and have been favorites include the following:
Sim City 2000
MechWarrior 2
Centipede 3D
Half-Life (original w/expansion games)
Doom 1 & Chex Quest

Not so outdated games include:
Call of Duty 3 - 4
Resistance: the Fall of Man (part 1)
...and not much else.

When I have something extraordinary to report I will update this blog. I play Half-Life almost every night and have beaten it soundly several times so I will have plenty to say about that.
